Ready for a life-changing year of service? Join our AmeriCorps program this summer to help nonprofits throughout Kentucky end the threat of homelessness and provide affordable housing solutions for everyone!

Homes for All AmeriCorps program provides the perfect opportunity to gain resume-boosting skills while helping families and households secure and maintain safe, healthy, affordable housing. An AmeriCorps position can also work as a practicum placement.

Community Action Council is seeking (2) AmeriCorps Volunteers in a housing services positions.

AmeriCorps Volunteers commit to a one-year term of service beginning in September and serve 1700 hours by August 31st, 2027. Volunteers receive a living allowance of $20,400, money for college or student loans in the amount of $7,445, health insurance, childcare assistance (if income eligible), loan forbearance, student loan interest payments, training, and professional and personal development.

Activities:

Intake and Assessment: Engage with new participants and facilitate initial conversations to explore housing goals and identify pathways forward. 15%

Document Preparation and Program Navigation: Guide participants in gathering key documents and navigating opportunities that align with their housing and stability goals. 15%

Housing-focused Case Management: Utilize tools such as the VI-SPDAT to inform individualized plans that promote housing attainment and long-term stability; includes home visits and strategy sessions tailored to participant strengths. 35%

Goal-Oriented Coaching: Partner with participants to advance educational, employment, and public benefit objectives, including accompanying them to appointments, benefit application navigation, and connecting with learning or employment opportunities. 15%

Community Engagement Initiatives: Contribute to the planning and execution of neighborhood-based improvement efforts through collaboration, outreach, and volunteer engagement. 5%

Collaborative Resource Connections: Link participants with relevant community organizations and participate in interagency and coalition meetings to strengthen local partnerships and expand access to opportunities. 5%

Other Information:

• The daily schedule is agreed upon between Volunteer and site supervisor

Requirements

• Willingness to provide information to complete and undergo a National Service Criminal History Check
• Be at least 17 years of age at the start of service
• High school diploma or GED
• Citizen, national, or lawful permanent resident of the United States
• Willingness to travel periodically
