Under the supervision of the Sr. Director of Corporate Compliance & Privacy (or designee), the Sr. Compliance Auditor is an independent self- directed individual who identifies opportunities for improving compliance with internal policies and procedures and federal, state and local regulations. Following the established protocols, the Sr. Compliance Auditor will design, perform, and lead complex audit projects of various aspects of the healthcare delivery system, to include but not limited to, clinical documentation, coding, billing and reimbursement, physician relationships, etc. The Sr. Compliance Auditor may also assist with or lead compliance related investigations, allegations of fraud, waste and abuse and other violations as may be needed.  The Sr Compliance Auditor will design compliance audit programs and perform the various audit tests of compliance controls of both the design and operating effectiveness by obtaining and analyzing audit evidence, preparing audit workpapers, evaluating test results, and drawing conclusions and writing formal audit reports on the adequacy and effectiveness of compliance or regulatory criteria. The Sr Compliance Auditor will follow-up to validate that compliance corrective action plans are completed and have adequate evidence to support closure of the open recommendation or compliance risks. They will also perform research and contribute to the development of the risk-based annual compliance audit plan.

The Sr Compliance Auditor will work under general supervision, requiring minimal instruction and guidance to perform duties and must demonstrate initiative and use independent judgment in conducting their work. The results of these activities are communicated to leadership as findings, conclusions, and recommendations; potential areas of concern; opportunity, and/or risk; and degree of compliance with established policies or regulatory requirements. Responsible for job duties in accordance with shared purpose, vision and values of Tampa General Hospital.


  • Bachelor’s degree; Nursing (active FL RN license preferred), Business Administration, Healthcare Related, or Finance/Accounting (with associated license, e.g. CPA) .
  • Required Certifications: Includes one or more of the following. Certified Professional Coder (CPC) Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) Other associated healthcare billing, coding, auditing certifications.
  • Required Experience: 3 years in an auditing role in a hospital or healthcare setting. 5 years’ experience is preferred.
