Purpose of the Position:

Lead the design, development, implementation and continuous improvement of learning and development strategies, practices, and programs to help ensure talent readiness, engagement, and performance. Collaborate closely with business leaders and cross functional partners to ensure programs are effective, meaningful, and truly making an impact on individual development. Ensure alignment with strategic business objectives and maintain high quality standards on instructional design and development for all methods of program delivery.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Manage learning team in the design, delivery, and continuous improvement of learning and development programs in support of organizational needs.
  • Design and deliver learning experiences to include instructor-led, e-learning, and other learning aids, tools, and resources that promote an overall creative and interactive learning experience.
  • Leverage experience and background in instructional design and adult learning to drive the creation and adoption of innovative and blended learning experiences.
  • Partner with Talent Management Director to devise organizational talent development strategy; oversee strategy implementation and assess outcomes.
  • Utilize a variety of training methodologies, techniques, concepts, learning tools and practices to ensure maximum effectiveness of training programs.
  • Perform needs assessment and gap analysis; proactively identify training needs and present recommendations for targeted training solutions.
  • Partner with managers to understand individual and departmental needs. Work cross functionally on existing and proposed training and development initiatives and ensure training programs meet current and future needs.
  • Create internal communications content that inspires, establishing a clear understanding of our employee value proposition and brand principles and help evangelize core messages.
  • Leverage experience in change management to help shepherd organizational change through communication strategies.
  • Look for ways to continuously improve programs and trainings, staying abreast of market learning and development trends and innovating in the learning space.
  • Drive new initiatives and projects in areas such as culture, diversity and recognition. Analyze current programs and recommend enhancements based on best practices.
  • Evaluate training effectiveness by using pre-test and post-test measures, interviews, and examining various records and reports; and recommends modifications to training - utilizing Kirkpatrick levels 1-4, as appropriate.
  • Own the new hire employee onboarding process, partnering with management to consistently update materials to avoid complacency and outdated learnings.
  • Work with Subject Matter Experts in translating content and performance requirements into sound instructional content.
  • Demonstrate capacity to work in a fast-paced and changing environment with multiple priorities that need to be effectively managed, while maintaining composure and flexibility.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Talent Management Director including special projects and tasks per business need.


Competencies and Skills:

  • Strong eye for detail with excellent written and verbal communication. Must be comfortable presenting to all levels.
  • Knowledge of adult learning principles, design methodologies and experienced application of instructional design processes. Experience with eLearning development tools.
  • Ability to design, develop, and facilitate a diverse range of training solutions including leadership, soft skills, and technical training.
  • Able to create compelling written communication that engage audiences and drive awareness, understanding, and behavior change.
  • Highly knowledgeable and skilled in PowerPoint. Has excellent creativity and a sound knowledge of PowerPoint features and presentation design.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, Visio)
  • Microsoft SharePoint administrator experience is preferred.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal direction.

Work Experience Requirements:

  • 7 plus years’ experience in learning and development with at least 4 of those years in a leadership role.  
  • Successful candidates will be able to provide examples of past learning solutions and tools created and/or delivered, as well as participate in a brief design test and facilitate a brief learning piece. 
  • Financial services experience preferred. 

Education Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Organizational Development, Learning Management, Instructional Design, Education, English, or a related field.
  • Master’s degree preferred.
